Informal auditions for both male and female vocalists will be held at Berkhamsted School, Castle Street, Berkhamsted on Sunday 26th February 2012 at 1pm and will finish at 4pm.
We aim to make the auditions as friendly and informal as possible so that you can give your very best performance.
All vocalists will be asked to:
* Complete a Registration Form with their contact details on arrival.
* Take part in a Vocal Warm Up session with all the other vocalists to get your voice ready for your audition.
* Do a short Range Test so that we know how high and how low you can sing. This is done individually round the piano.
Lead Singers and Lead Vocal Group Members will also need to:
* Perform a shortened version of one song from the Pepper audition list singing with a live backing band. The song selection is:
* Perform a song of your own choice (to a backing track or other simple accompaniment which MUST be provided by you).
* Lead Vocal Group Members will also need to do a Harmony Workshop session.
Please note that if you are offered a role as a lead singer or a lead vocal group member, we may ask you to sing a different song to the one you chose at audition.
Harmony Workshops
Those auditioning for places in the Pepper Choir, Backing Vocal Group or Lead Vocal Group will need to learn harmony lines to two short sections of well known songs before they attend the audition and take part in a Harmony Workshop Session.
The Harmony Workshop Session will be done in small groups round the piano and you will be asked to sing your chosen harmony line on your own and/or with vocalists singing the other different harmony lines.
These harmony line arrangements will be available to download from the Pepper Dropbox website from Wednesday 15th February. You will be able to download MP3 tracks of a choice of up to 4 harmony lines. You will need to choose just one harmony line for each song. There will be downloadable versions with each harmony line prominent in the mix. Singing along with these tracks is our preferred way of making it easy for you to learn harmonies in advance of rehearsals.
If you have any problems downloading the files, please Contact Us.
You will also be able to download:
* a copy of the full lyrics of the song with the harmony section(s) highlighted
* a link so that you can listen to/watch a performance of the song in the correct key (probably on YouTube)
* copies of all the harmonies in musical notation form (for those who can read music)
You can download a leaflet containing much of this information in a printable form here.
Good Luck and we really look forward to meeting you.
